- "MERTON GLOOP AND HIS MAGIC HORSESHOE": (Superman) a professor creates a force repeller shaped like a horseshoe and leaves it in a can in his lab. when Lois sends a waiter named Merton to see why the professor is late for their meeting he thinks the horseshoe has been thrown away and pins it to his tie for luck. a car nearly hits him but is pushed into the dinner where Lois and Clark are eating. When some crooks rob a bank and Merton is caught in the crossfire but the horseshoe repels the bullets.
